A guaracava-grande é uma ave passeriforme da família Tyrannidae.

The Great Guaracava is a passerine bird of the Tyrannidae family. 

Características

Mede 18 cm de comprimento. É semelhante à guaracava-de-barriga-amarela(Elaenia flavogaster), embora seja maior e com três barras brancas muito distintas nas asas, além de seu topete não apresentar listras brancas. Ambas as espécies podem ser sintópicas.

Characteristics: It measures 18 cm in length. It is similar to the yellow-bellied guaracava (Elaenia flavogaster), although it is larger and has three very distinct white bars on the wings, and its tuft does not have white stripes. Both species can be syntactic.

Alimenta-se de frutos e artrópodes (insetos).

Reprodução

Reproduz-se durante o verão no Brasil Centro-meridional, migrando para o Nordeste e Amazônia durante o inverno.

Hábitos

Ocorre em bordas de florestas diversas, campos rupestres (como na Serra do Cipó, Minas Gerais), capoeiras, cerrados diversos e matas secas.

Habits: It occurs in the borders of diverse forests, rupestrian fields (as in Serra do Cipó, Minas Gerais), capoeiras, diverse enclosures and dry forests. 

Distribuição Geográfica

Está presente em todo o Brasil, com exceção do extremo norte.

Geographic distribution: It is present throughout Brazil, with the exception of the far north.
